£400,000 a week star, David Alaba takes decision in joining Chelsea and PSG

Bayern Munich defender David Alaba has rejected advances from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain as the race to secure his signature goes on.

The Austria international recently confirmed he wouldn’t be extending his deal with the European champions beyond the end of the season, meaning he’s free to discuss a summer move with any potential suitors.

A whole host of European behemoths have registered their interest in the defender, with 90min exclusively revealing he was open to a move to the Premier League amid mooted interest from Liverpool and the two Manchester clubs in particular.

Chelsea also emerged as candidates to secure Alaba’s signature in recent months, though Sky Sports journalist Max Bielefeld now reports that the Austrian has rejected the chance to join Thomas Tuchel’s side.

PSG have also seen their ‘huge offer’ for Alaba rebuffed, with La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona now frontrunners in the race to land one of Europe’s top defenders.

While the news will undoubtedly come as a huge blow to Tuchel, Chelsea have previously been reported to be unwilling to break their wage structure in order to land the Bayern Munich man anyway.

The 28-year-old is said to be demanding wages of £400,000 a week, a figure which Real Madrid are more willing to pay.

David Alaba is understood to have rejected moves to PSG and Chelses
Despite Alaba focusing his efforts on a move to Madrid or Barcelona, it seems unlikely that the latter will be capable of shelling out such astronomical wages given their current financial plight.

However, with Alaba available on a free this summer, there would be no eye-water transfer fees involved and you certainly wouldn’t put it past them to stump up the money from somewhere.

It remains to be seen whether any other Premier League sides will table an official offer given the reports Alaba is keen on a move to Spain.
