English Premier League side, Arsenal will have to prepare to part with close to €80million for the service of Coutinho, as that was the asking price for the utility player.
Philippe Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian is reportedly in talks with Arsenal over a summer deal for the Brazil international.
Coutinho has been on loan at Bayern Munich this season, but the Bundesliga champions have chosen not to take up an option to sign him permanently.
That means he will return to Barcelona this summer with the Liga club keen to offload him in a bid to raise transfer funds of their own. They had set an €80million asking price before the worst of the coronavirus pandemic struck, but it remains to be seen if they will lower that asking price given the changing financial climate.
According to Le10sport, the Gunners have now made Coutinho one of their top transfer priorities having opened talks with Joorabchian.
Discussing Coutinho’s future last month on Sky Sports News, Joorabchian said “everything is possible” but insisted his personal love of Arsenal will not play a role when Coutinho comes to making a final decision.
“The fact I’m an Arsenal supporter is not a secret,” Joorabchian told Sky Sports News.”I don’t have any preference where the players go. I don’t try to push someone to one club or another. Everything is a possibility. After the Champions League game he played in England we had a long chat about it.”
