Bad news for Chelsea over the signing of La Liga king

Champions League defending champions Chelsea have had a blistering start to their premier league campaign after amassing seven points from the possible nine in their first three league games of the season.

The Blues have to date only added Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku to their squad and are considering a move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez while they were thought to have agreed personal terms with Sevilla center-back Jules Kounde.A fee between the Thomas Tuchel led side and Sevilla was thought to be holding off the deal and according to The Athletic’s correspondent David Ornstein, the deal to sign the French international is now off.

This is after Sevilla raised their price for Kounde as they feel Chelsea have left it late in the transfer market to sign their target and securing his replacement in the coming hours could prove to be difficult.

“Chelsea move for Jules Kounde currently off and not expected to resurrect unless Sevilla reduce the price. CFC thought verbal agreement in place on fee but Sevilla FC raised it by €15m. Barring late twist, Tuchel will go with existing options.” David Ornstein tweeted.

It is however not clear if Chelsea will try to sign another central defender or the manager will be trusting Chalobah with the academy graduate recent displays suggesting he deserves a run in the side.
