Blow for Chelsea as Haaland’s transfer value soars amid interest in Kane and Lukaku

Chelsea have potentially been handed a blow in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland as his transfer fee has gone up.

The Blues have long been linked with a swoop for the Norwegian striker, with reports suggesting that he is a candidate for a summer arrival at Stamford Bridge.

However, any potential move looks set to be costly with the 20-year-old having experienced a stark increase in his transfer value in the last few months.

According to data presented by Safe Betting Sites, Haaland’s value has increased by £18m in just three months – all the way up to £92.5m, with some of Europe’s top clubs interested in signing the prolific striker.

It ranks the former RB Salzburg hitman as the footballer with the highest increase in the world in terms of value, leaving him above the likes of Manchester City’s Phil Foden, Atletico Madrid’s Marcos Llorente and also Juventus’ Federico Chiesa.

That sharp increase is no surprise considering Haaland’s form throughout the 2020/21 campaign.

He has continued to harness his reputation on the European stage having plundered 41 goals in as many games in all competitions throughout the season.

He finished third in the Bundesliga scoring charts having only been beaten by Andre Silva of Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.

That form has seen Haaland be linked to a number of Europe’s leading clubs including Chelsea.

Manchester United are also thought to be interested, while Real Madrid have long been admirers of the striker.

Even before his transfer valuation increase, any move for Haaland would certainly have been costly.

Meanwhile, Chelsea remain linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane with speculation continuing to build around the Premier League golden boot winner.Borussia Dortmund are reportedly not keen to sell and he still has three years left to run on his contract at the Signal Iduna Park.
