Chelsea defender will not take part in England’s duty due to the fact that he picked up an ankle injury while in action for his loan club last week
Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill is one of two players to withdraw from the England Under-21 squad for this week’s double header away to Slovenia and Andorra due to injury.
The defender, who was in line to make his Under-21 debut, is spending the season on loan at Huddersfield Town and missed their Championship draw away to Luton Town on Saturday due to an ankle injury. He will be replaced in the group by former Chelsea player Clinton Mola, who joined Stuttgart last year and was initially meant to be playing with the Under-20s during this break.
The former Tottenham Hotspur youth wide player Noni Madueke is also out due to an issue, with Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt called up in his place.
Conor Gallagher, the Chelsea midfielder on loan at Crystal Palace, is one of the standout players in a group captained by clubmate Marc Guehi and Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe. Tottenham’s Oliver Skipp will also feature.
Lee Carsley’s side face Slovenia on Thursday evening before travelling to face Andorra next Monday night having begun their European Championship qualifying campaign with a routine win over Kosovo at Milton Keynes last month.
A statement from the FA said: “PSV Eindhoven player Noni Madueke and Huddersfield Town loanee Levi Samuels Colwill will not join up with England MU21s for their forthcoming UEFA U21 Euro qualifiers against Slovenia and Andorra due to injury.
“Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt and VfB Stuttgart defender Clinton Mola, who were initially part of Andy Edwards’ England MU20s, will now join Lee Carsley’s squad for their upcoming away fixtures.”
