Premier League giants and UEFA Champions League winner, Chelsea have announced Marcus Bettinelli as their first summer signing.
The English goalkeeper joined the Blues after seeing out his contract with Fulham and he comes in as a replacement for the outgoing Willy Caballero. He signed a two years contract with the London club.
“Goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli has today joined Chelsea Football Club,” the club confirmed.“Bettinelli arrives having been out of contract at Fulham, and he will add strength to our goalkeeping resources following the departure of Willy Caballero. The 6ft 4in keeper spent over a decade at Craven Cottage, making 120 appearances for the Whites, and also represented the England Under-21 team earlier in his career.”The club is yet to confirm Bettinelli’s jersey number and he will join his new teammates in the ongoing pre-season tour.
Here is what the former Fulham goalkeeper said after completing his move to Chelsea.
‘It’s always been a special club. I know the area very well so it’s been a dream of mine to come over to this side and it’s finally happened. There were some talks a few years ago when I was a bit younger and for whatever reason that didn’t come about but I’m here now.
‘I’m really excited to be involved and looking forward to trying to impress and help the team as much as I can.’
