English Premier League clubs, Chelsea and Manchester City are reportedly in race to secure the signing of a world-class player from the Dutch League.
According to the reports, Argentine full-back Nicolas Tagliafico will reportedly sign a new contract extension at Ajax next week, though he can still depart from the Dutch giants at the end of the 2020-21 season if a better offer is made for him.
The 28-year=old defender was heavily linked with a move away from Ajax during the summer transfer window, but a move didn’t go through. however, the deadline passed with the South American full-back still with Ajax.
Despite reports that he will be signing a new contract extension untill June 2023 he will still be allowed to depart from the club next summer if a better offer come knocking.
The report suggests that an ‘informal agreement’ means that the Argentine full-back will be allow to join a ‘top European team’ ahead of the 2021-22 campaign as Ajax look to ensure that they receive the best possible price for the South American.
Man City and Chelsea has both been rumoured among clubs who want to secure the service of the 28-year-old defender, Tagliafico has futures in 110 games for his Dutch team in all competitions, and was involved in 28 goals contribution in the process, scoring 12 goals and providing 16 assists for Ajax.
Tagliafico has already played 11 games for Erik ten Hag’s side this campaign but is yet to score a goal and made only one assist thus far.
