Chelsea News: Lampard to make Chilwell most expensive defender, confirms Sergio Reguilon’s deal

Chelsea have looked away from the defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup final and have been handed the opportunity to secure a cut-price £30m deal for Wilfried Zaha.

The Crystal Palace star would have cost £80m last summer, but the Eagles are now willing to offload the 27-year-old to save money on his whopping £130,000-a-week wages.

However, SunSport’s Paul Jiggins writes that there are still no takers, with Arsenal signing Nicolas Pepe instead last summer and Chelsea looking to secure a deal for Kai Havertz.

Elsewhere, Chelsea have reportedly joined Everton in the race to sign Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon.

The defender, who was voted “the best left-back in La Liga” last season, was the subject of an £18million bid from the Toffees following a standout stint on loan at Sevilla.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea have made their interest in Reguilon known – and are expected to trump Everton’s offer in the coming days.

The Blues interest may cast doubt over their pursuit of Leicester ace Ben Chilwell.

Yet the England defender sent the rumour mill into overdrive after posing for a holiday snap with former Foxes teammate and Chelsea ace Danny Drinkwater.

Frank Lampard will reportedly have to make Chilwell the world’s most expensive defender to prise him away from Leicester.

The Mirror claims that the Blues have been told that the Foxes value the 23-year-old even more highly than £80million Harry Maguire.
