After a had fought victory over Tottenham, Chelsea is still looking for ways to reposition their team as one of the best teams in the world.
Thomas Tuchel told sky sports yesterday that he has resumed talks to land Leipzig’s talented defender Dayot Upamecano and Bayern Munich’s David Alaba before transfer deadline, as there is need to strengthen his squad more to become title contenders.
He said ” i am keen in search of defensive reinforcements at the end of this season, following that Thiago Silva’s contract expiration date will come up soon and Upamecano is a young terrific defender with great strength as well.
David Alaba on the other hand had lots of transfer battle in the summer after attracting the interest of top clubs across the continent.
His agent Volker Struth has confirmed that the defender has a €42.5 million release clause in his contract at the Bundesliga club, and Tuchel says his role will be important looking at Chelsea’s current form.
It is quite amazing that Chelsea owner is still ready to embark on further spending, after releasing a whopping sum of 250 million euros during last summer.
