Chelsea will be without Timo Werner in their next Premier League game against Newcastle United at St James Park. The German forward picked up a hamstring problem during the match up against Malmo last week. Timo Werner is expected to return to Chelsea’s training session sooner than Romelu Lukaku who twisted his ankle against Malmo.
Chelsea can still cope in Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner’s absence, they scored seven goals against Norwich City without an actual striker. They’ll have to play without an actual forward in their next two to three games. Timo Werner will return to the squad in few days time, he’ll feature in more November fixtures. Romelu Lukaku might not play a single match in November looking at his current injury situation.With Timo Werner still sidelined, certain players will have to chance of making it to the starting lineup. Callum Hudson-odoi replaced Timo Werner after he picked up the injury against Malmo, the Englishman has made two goal contributions in two appearances so far. Thomas Tuchel will be looking to feature the Englishman in more matches before Timo Werner gets back.
Kai Havertz now has the chance of playing in the center forward position freely, he has led Chelsea’s attack in their last three matches so far. He’ll lead the front line till Timo Werner gets back into shape. The German forward already has two goals in those three appearances made so far, he scored against Malmo and a crucial goal in the Carabao Cup round of sixteen against Southampton.
Since picking up an injury in the Super Cup, Hakim Ziyech hasn’t been at his best. He scored Chelsea’s first goal of the season but is still yet to make any goal contribution since his first goal. With Timo Werner gradually getting back into shape, Hakim Ziyech will have to prove his worth and earn himself more playing time. Hakim Ziyech will have to make a massive contribution in Chelsea’s next matches if he wants to earn Thomas Tuchel’s trust.
