After the international break, action returns to English Premier League on Saturday as Chelsea will host West Brom in Stamford Bridge.
The Blues had their first training session post international break today as Thomas Tuchel seeks to get his charges back up to speed for West Brom encounter. Olivier Giroud, Mateo Kovacic and Reece James all returned to training for the blues. Very notable was that the trio of Thiago Silva, Jorginho and Tammy Abraham trained today, recovering from individual injuries.
Thiago Silva had been nursing an injury he sustained against Tottenham while the duo of Kovacic and Abraham have also missed key games with injuries recently including their crucial second leg encounter with Atletico Madrid. In the absence of Silva, Tuchel has experimented with a couple of centre back pairings but would be delighted at the return of the former PSG captain for their vital UCL tie against FC Porto next week. Italian midfielder Jorginho will also add the much needed prudence for the blues as the go into a season defining last few weeks of the season. The same could be said about Tammy Abraham who is Chelsea’s top scorer this season. In his absence record signing Kai Havertz has even had to fill in the number nine for against Leeds United.
Chelsea fans will be hoping the return of these three players can propel them over Porto to the semi finals of the Champions League this season.
