Dean Henderson is to be offered a new contract by Manchester United as they attempt to keep hold of the highly-rated goalkeeper.
The glovesman, who enjoyed another excellent loan spell at Sheffield United last season, has recently been linked with a move to Chelsea as Frank Lampard eyes a replacement for the under-fire Kepa.
Henderson was one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League last season
His immediate future at Old Trafford has also been questioned as experienced Spaniard David de Gea is United’s undisputed No.1, meaning Henderson could join Sheffield United on loan again for the upcoming campaign.
But the Blades have been on the lookout for a new keeper to replace Henderson, and Aaron Ramsdale looks set to sign from Bournemouth following their relegation from the Premier League.
So while there is no confirmation as to where Henderson will be playing next term, Man United remain convinced of the 23-year-old’s talents and a new deal is on the horizon.
According to The Sun, Henderson is ‘on the verge’ of signing a new £100,000-a-week contract with the Red Devils, only a year after penning an extension worth £60,000-a-week.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to consider Henderson a future Man United No.1, but whether this new deal is a sign he will challenge De Gea in 2020/21 remains to be seen.
The report provides an update on Chelsea’s interest in Henderson, saying no offer has yet been made for the glovesman from the Blues as they are also looking at the likes of Jan Oblak at Atletico Madrid and Ajax keeper Andre Onana.
