Don’t ask me the whereabouts of the Chinese doctors in Nigeria – Ehanire tells Nigerians

The Minister of Health Dr. Osagie Ehanire on Thursday May 14th 2020 declared to Nigerians that he will be happy if they don’t ask him where the Chinese Doctors are in the country.

Recall that 15-member Chinese doctors arrived the country about a month ago to help in the fight against the deadly coronavirus pandemic in the country.

And a lot of Nigerians have been wondering where these doctors are and what impact do they have in the fight against this deadly virus in the country.

But reacting, the minister said at the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Abuja, that the doctors are not their guest.

Ehanire also told Nigerians that they are in Nigeria on a Company visa belonging to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).

“I think not all of them were doctors and I heard that some of them are technicians, but they are staff of CCECC.

“The Ministry of Health is not their host, so we can’t always explain what happened to them or where they are. There seems to be a lot of interest in these doctors. But they are the staff of the company and I think that they are on a company Visa,” he said.

The minister disclosed to all Nigerians that they should not ask him where these 15 Chinese doctors are in the country.

“I will be very happy if you don’t ask me about where they are because they are not really our guests,” he added.

But he however said that Nigeria has learnt some few things from them as they expose how China was able to deal with the ravaging COVID-19 which started in Wuhan.

“But we have been able to learn some things from them by interacting with them from their experience in their country and they did tell us and we shared ideas on what they did in their country in managing COVID-19,” Ehanire tells Nigerians.
