Dybala to Chelsea, £100m deal for a defender, player agrees personal terms and more

Welcome to the January transfer window updates for Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City and others.

Jordan Flores has completed his move to Hull City from Dundalk having signed an 18-month deal.

Flores, 25, is the Tigers’ first signing in the January transfer window and the club will have the option of keeping him for another year if he does well.

Atlectico Madrid

Atlético Madrid have confirmed the signing of the Lyon forward Moussa Dembélé on an initial loan deal.

The La Liga leaders will pay a €1.5m (£1.35m) fee to loan Dembélé for the rest of the season, with an option to make the move permanent in the summer. Lyon have announced that the agreed fee is €33.5m (£29.9m) with a further €5m (£4.45m) in add-ons.

The French forward scored 45 goals in all competitions for Lyon after leaving Celtic in September 2018, including a memorable double against Manchester City in the 2019-20 Champions League quarter-finals. He arrives as a replacement for Diego Costa, who left Atlético earlier this month.

Arsenal

Arsenal are monitoring the progress of Shakhtar Donetsk winger Manor Solomon with the view to making an approach in the summer transfer, according to recent reports.

The 21-year-old Solomon has produced a series of excellent performances in the Champions League over the past 18 months, including scoring against Real Madrid in both of the Ukraine club’s two wins against the La Liga giants in the group stages this season.

And now the Guardian reports that Arsenal have already held initial discussions with the player’s camp in preparation for a summer move after scouting him extensively over the past year.

Chelsea

Chelsea yet to make a move to land Paulo Dybala in the summer.

Speaking on the Here We Go podcast (Subscription Required), reliable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea are yet to make a move for Paulo Dybala.

With his contract set to expire this June, the Argentine star could be one of the best players to become available on a free this summer.

Romano revealed that Dybala is yet to agree on a deal with Juventus. The 27-year-old looks set to leave in the summer if no agreement can be reached before then.

Barcelona

Manchester City defender Eric Garcia has reached an agreement regarding personal terms with Barcelona, Goal can confirm, but there is still a fair way to go before a return to Camp Nou can come to fruition.
It is understood that Carles Alena’s loan move to Getafe has freed up enough funds for the Catalan giants to wrap up a deal for Garcia, with the problematic centre-back position seen as a top priority as Barca look to close the gap on La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid.

Manchester United

Manchester United told what they need to do to land Kalidou Koulibaly.

Speaking on TalkSport, Jim White has revealed what Manchester United will need to land Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Senegalese star is one of Europe’s top defenders and would be an excellent addition to United. The Red Devils have been linked with a move for him for some time now.

However, it doesn’t appear to be set in stone, with a price tag of at least £100million put on his head.

With his contract running until 2023, Napoli are in a strong position when it comes to negotiations.

United are keen to bring in a dependable partner for skipper Harry Maguire. While Koulibaly can do just that, he is too expensive.
