Edo Traditional rulers declare fasting over Oshiomhole, Obaseki crisis

The Edo Council of Traditional Rulers has announced that on Jan. 2, 2020, there will be fasting and prayer for divine intervention to the political crisis in the state.

There has been a crisis between Gov. Godwin Obaseki and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Adams Oshiomhole.

If the problem should continue the State will suffer and the indigenes and people living in the State will be the ones to bear the bulk of the crisis.

Spokesperson of the Otaru of Auchi, Alh. Usman Abudah, made a statement available to newsmen in Benin on Monday, said that the royal father, Alh. Aliru Momoh, enjoined the Muslim ummah in his kingdom to continue to pray for peace in the state. Abudah said that the monarch, while briefing members of Otaru-in-Council (OIC) on the recent meeting of the state Traditional Rulers’ Council, presided over by the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, had also urged them to join in the exercise.

The faceoff between political godfathers and their sons are a regular occurrence in Nigeria politics.

Recall that there was a faceoff between Akinwunmi Ambode and Bola Tinubu of Lagos as well as Udom Emmanuel and Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom.

As the entire people of the State pray, the stakeholders are watching how the crisis between the two political leaders will be resolved.
