Borrusia Dortmund striker Erling Halaand is one of the if not the hottest prospect in all of European football at the moment. With big clubs announcing their interest in the 20-year old, almost on a weekly basis, Dortmund has been placed in an advantaged negotiating position. Multiple reports like 90Min have confirmed that Chelsea will make an official bid for the Norwegian striker next week.In a video interview with Arsenal fan Don Robbie, renowned sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, revealed that the talks flying around about Erling Halaand’s departure from Dortmund to Chelsea are just rumours. He noted that Chelsea were very interested in signing Halaand but nothing has been confirmed at the moment. The journalist added that Dortmund are not willing to listen to offers in the region of 100 -120 million pounds for their highly coveted forward. He continued by saying Dortmund will only listen to offers from 150-160 million pounds. This means that Chelsea would have to fork out a fee north of 160 million pounds to land Halaand. It can be argued that the fee is high one to pay for a 20-year old. In fact, there is no doubt that it is. However, Chelsea owner Roman Abrahamovic is very much interested in the player. The mouth watering fee is not one that the West London club cannot afford to splash. With billionaire owner Abrahamovic’s continued financial support, the blues can no doubt land Halaand this summer. It has been reported that personal terms will not be a problem in signing Halaand as the Nowergian is open to a move to West London. The only obstacle is the fee that Halaand will be brought in for. Roman Abrahamovic will be keen to redeem his promise to Thomas Tuchel. The blues owner promised his club’s manager that he would try to sign Halaand if Chelsea managed to finish in the EPL top four last season. Tuchel did just that and even added toppings by beating Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City with one goal to win the Champion’s league in May 2021.
The likelihood of the deal happening is also boosted by the fact that Chelsea transfer director Marina Granovskaia is an expert negotiator. She was the mastermind behind the deals that saw Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz and Edouard Mendy arrive in London last season. Little by little, Chelsea are moving ever closer to signing Haaland
