The summer transfer window have been open for weeks, with lots of clubs recording successes in the market, while others are yet to complete one signing.Chelsea is one of the many Clubs active in the market with a bid to sign at least three(3) players, before the window comes to a close according to their Head coach -Thomas Tuchel.
Recently, they have been heavily linked with two highly rated players in the world, Erling Haaland and Achraf Hakimi.
Haaland plays for Borussia Dortmund as a striker. He is a goal machine netting a total of 57 goals and registering 15 assists in 59 bundesliga games at the age of 20.
Hakimi plays for Italian side, Inter Milan as a right back. Currently, he is regarded as one of the best right backs in the world having been bought from Real Madrid for £36m last year. The 22-year-old Moroccan is valued at £68.7m with an initial bid of £51.6m been rejected from Chelsea and Paris St. German.
According to RMC sport, PSG are in pole position as they have prepared an improved offer of £60.1m which include bonuses.
With the blues gearing for the signature of these two young and talented players, they must act fast and consider other options of luring them to the Bridge before other teams does.
For that to be possible, more than one or all the underlisted players will have to leave the bridge.
1. Olivier Giroud
The 34-year-old France International recently had his contract extended till June 2022. He wasn’t a regular under Thomas Tuchel, netting just 11 times last campaign with 6 of them coming in the UEFA Champions league. He is considered as the number three striker at the bridge despite his fine performances when called upon.According to report in Italy, AC Milan have prepared an offer of a two-year-deal, worth £4m per season to the striker with an option to extend by one.
With such offer and age of Olivier Giroud, Chelsea and Giroud will see this as good business, with the latter seeking regular playing time. Chelsea on the other hand will consider this an avenue to raise funds for their proposed signings.
2. Caesar Azpilicueta
The 31-year Old Spain international is currently on international duties with country. He was magnificent in their run to a glorious UEFA Champions League Victory. He has just one-year left on his current contract with the Blues, with a weekly wages of about £145,000 according to sportrac.
With no negotiations ongoing about an extension, it is likely that the club will no longer be needing his services after one season.
The arrival of Achraf Hakimi will definitely mean an end to the Club’s Captain reign at the bridge as the both operate from same position. Hakimi was a top performer in Antonio’s Conte formation of three centre backs, occupying the right flank, just like Azpilicueta in Tuchel’s formation.
3. Palmeiri Emerson.
One of the unused players at Chelsea, managing just 15 appearances last term with one goal. 2 of those appearances was in the premier league. His contract is set to expire at the end of next season. He can operate from three positions; left back, left midfield and centre back. He was signed from AS Roma in 2018 and has since then found life difficult at the Bridge.
Chelsea will be willing to offload him if the right buyer comes, so to avoid losing him for free next season.
4. Marcos Alonso
A free-kick specialist on the right flank. He was a top performer during Chelsea’s domestic win back in 2017. He was acquired from Fiorentina for €23m in 2016 and established himself as a regular ever since, until the signing of England International – Ben Chilwell.According to Sky Sports, Inter Milan are willing to accept Alonso as part of the deal for Achraf Hakimi. They’ve been an admirer of the 30-year-old for a number of years now, and will be glad to have him at San Siro.
Chelsea will see this as a leverage and seize the opportunity to make the deal successful.
5. Davide Zappacosta
This is a name long forgotten at the Bridge following a season long loan at Genoa. He is notable for his powerful strikes and low crosses.Inter Milan are also interested in having Zappacosta at San Siro, seeing him perform last season in the Italian Division with Genoa. Chelsea will be so eager to trade him for their most preferred right back, Achraf Hakimi.
