We can confirm the appointments of key players for the Stamford Bridge outfit as Todd Boehly era at Chelsea Football Club is gradually taking shape. Now more changes have been made to the club’s heirachy. Remember that yesterday, Blues chairman Bruce Buck announced that he was stepping down from his role after 19 years as club chairman, a role which he assumed since Roman Abramovich took over in 2003. Now, Chelsea have announced in an official club statement that director Marina Granovskaia will be departing her role as well.
The Canadian-Russian has been at the club since 2003, and had been the right hand woman of former owner Abramovich. She took charge of transfers in 2010, and was appointed into the board of directors in 2013. With Abramovich finding it increasingly difficult to gain access to the U.K in recent years, Marina had basically been the one running the club in his absence. She built herself a reputation as one of the most powerful women in football, and one of the sport’s best transfer negotiators. She was named the Best director in European football at the Golden Boy awards in 2021.
Meanwhile, the club announced a series of appointments, with Todd Boehly named as Chairman. Boehly will also fill the role of interim sporting director until the club finds a replacement for Marina, meaning he will be in charge of transfer negotiations. Other appointments were made, which include:These are the new appointments made by Chelsea FC, as the club begins to take shape under the new ownership of the Boehly-led consortium. The club will surely now turn it’s attention to the transfer market, as they look to back managers Thomas Tuchel and Emma Hayes with new, quality signings. The women’s team have already begun making quality recruitments, so all eyes will be on the men’s team to see what – if any – new players will be added to the squad this summer.
