Manchester United hunt for a striker has taken another turn after United has been left sweating by many transfer targets. This time United have identified Carlos Vinicius as the striker they need after failed attempts to sign Timo Werner.
According to Newstrustng, United has reportedly agreed to make an official bid for Carlos Vinicius after the board agreed that he is the striker to lead United back to their glory days. The Red Devils have been in search for a striker since the uncertainty surrounding Odion Ighalo’s future at United became very evident.
Ighalo was signed by United in January to fill in as their main striker after Marcus Rashford was left injured after one of United’s games. Since his arrival, he has been in good form but the suspension of the league has stalled his impact and soon he will be going back to China once his loan deal expires. United on the other hand looks unlikely to extend his stay though the player has voiced his intention of remaining at United at least for a year.
In order to solve their strikers issues United have been looking at many transfer targets which includes Timo Werner, Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho. However, Timo Werner is now out of the picture after he voiced his admiration for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, while Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish are not central forwards, so are not priorities for now.
At just 25, Carlos Vinicius is young and vibrant. This season he has being in a tremendous form scoring 15 goals and assisting 4 goals in just 14 Top Flight starts. There is no doubt that he is the striker United needs for he is ruthless and has great amount of strength. He is the type of striker defenders can’t afford to give the slightest of space or opportunity because they will surely get punished if they do.
Once he is signed, Manchester United expect Vinicius to provide a strong challenge for Marcus Rashford and possibly cement the central forward position for himself.
United are reportedly willing to match the €100m release clause inserted in Vinicius current contract deal that he signed with Benfica and are hoping that a deal will soon be concluded for the striker
