Marina Granovskaia rejects Tuchel’s target, makes £67.5m offer for his alternative

It has been a slow start to this summer’s transfer window for Chelsea as head coach Thomas Tuchel is still waiting for his first signing.

After guiding the Blues to the UEFA Champions League title just over a month ago, the Chelsea boss was tipped by many to be one of the Premier League’s busiest bosses when it came to adding new signings to his squad this summer.

However, even though we are still in the early stages of this summer’s window, Chelsea are yet to add any new faces to their squad, meaning Tuchel is still yet to make his first signing since replacing Frank Lampard back in January.

Despite that, the German has still set his ambitions high, as he aims to turn the Blues back into genuine Premier League title contenders

Amongst his main targets this summer are Wolverhampton Wanderers star Adama Traore, Declan Rice of West Ham United and Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland, the latter of whom is believed to be the Blues’ top target above anyone else.

Therefore, if the Blues are to pursue a move for Haaland and successfully secure his signature, there is a chance that it could set them back by around £150million, meaning that would restrict Tuchel in what else he could spend to land his top targets.

Despite turning down the offer of two new contracts at the London Stadium, West Ham are believed to value Rice at somewhere in the region of £100million, meaning it is unlikely that the Blues could go after both him and Haaland in the same window.

However, Chelsea may have already identified an alternative option to Rice this summer to save them some money in the shape of Paris Saint-Germain and Brazilian ace Marquinhos. It is reported that the Blues have pinpointed him as a target and Tuchel is keen on a reunion.

“This season, a lot of players have played in different positions. You just have to focus on one thing: always put the team first. I always try to do my best, whichever position.

“I would never say that I didn’t want to play, even if I was tired. Sometimes the coach asks me to make the decision.

“I always want to play, but he knows how to manage the situation. A season is very long and we have a lot of ambition this term. We will see what the coach decides.

“The last few seasons have helped us a lot. The older players try to pass on as much experience as possible to the rest of the team.

“We try and bring that to the big matches. These days I think more about my preparation for matches.”

With Marquinhos, who is currently valued at £67.5million by transfermarkt, having built up an understanding of playing in defensive-midfield in recent years, it could be possible that Tuchel views him as an alternative option to Rice.

The German, of course, knows him inside out, as does Marquinhos with Tuchel, meaning it could be a sensible move if Chelsea were to officially launch a move for him. As well as that, Marquinhos also knows Thiago Silva well, meaning the latter may convince him to make the move.

Although he is valued at just over £67million by transfermarkt, it is currently unclear how much PSG would want to sanction a departure.Given that former Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is close to joining PSG, the French giants may be prepared to let Marquinhos go if the price is right.
