Ronaldo, new Chelsea signing Timo Werner to feature in today’s league matches

Football in Italy is officially starting today June 12 and not on June 20 as many thought. It is starting with the 2nd leg semi final matches of the Coppa Italia, the final of the Coppa Italia will also be played on June 17 at Stadio Olimpico in Rome before Seria A returns on June 20.

For the 1st leg, Juventus played away from home and managed to get a 1 – 1 draw. It was Ronaldo who equalised deep into 2nd half stoppage time

Ronaldo has been in terific form since moving to Seria A, he has scored 42 league goals in 53 league appearances, his goals last season got him the Seria A golden boot award. This season he is even in better form, he has scored 21 league goals with 11 of them coming consecutively.

Ronaldo will also be looking to use his goals to help Juventus secure what will be their 9th consecutive Seria A title if they manage to hold out Lazio and Inter Milan who are their main challengers. Lazio are just 1 point behind the league leaders Juventus while Inter are 9 points off in 3rd place with a game in hand.

A win for Juventus today will see them face the winner of the 2nd semi final match between Napoli and Inter Milan, Napoli won the 1st leg 0 – 1 away from home.

With cup holders Lazio already eliminated we are sure to see a new cup champion after the finals in Rome.

Chelsea fans will have another opportunity to see Timo Werner in action when Leipzig plays Hoffenheim later today. This will be his 2nd match since it was announced that the player has agreed to join Chelsea after they agreed to pay his release clause.

In his last match against Paderborn he assisted the only goal for Leipzig as the match ended 1 – 1. Leipzig’s Upamecano was sent off in the 1st half after receiving a second yellow card, Leipzig played the whole 2nd half with 10 men.

Leipzig are 3rd in league 3 points ahead of Borussia M’gladbach who are in 4th. A win for them today will see them get closer to ensuring their place in the UEFA Champions League next season. It won’t come easy though as Hoffenheim have their own European ambitious.
