Chelsea are preparing for their first Premier League game of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Frank Lampard takes his side to the Amex Stadium, looking to earn three points and make the perfect start to the 2020/21 campaign.

The Blues will want to build upon last season, where they finished fourth in the Premier League and reached the FA Cup final, and have already demonstrated their intent with a number of high quality signings in the transfer window.

Hakim Ziyech has arrived from Ajax, whilst the Blues broke the club transfer record to land Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen.

At the back, Lampard has strengthened with the additions of Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva, whilst Malang Sarr joined on a free transfer, but is expected to be loaned out for the season.

A goalkeeper is also on the agenda, with talks at an advanced stage with Rennes over goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

One of Chelsea’s first signings of the summer was Timo Werner, who agreed a move from RB Leipzig in early June whilst the restarted season was still ongoing.

The Germany striker has established himself as one of the elite strikers in Europe with his displays in the Bundesliga and at international level, scoring 28 goals in 34 league appearances last season.

Werner is expected to make his full Chelsea debut at the Amex on Monday evening, and ahead of the game, the Blues posted a video of the striker in training.

The clip showed Werner burying shots from all angles, with both feet, and many left the goalkeeper with no chance.

Fans took to Reddit to hail the striker, and express their excitement to watch him in action.

Can’t wait to see what a full-strength starting 11 will do during the campaign, particularly as partnerships develop. Expect some fine goals if Werner keeps up his training form! ”

Another posted: “Awesome video, I can’t wait for Monday.”

I can’t wait o for all our signings to play ahead of this new season, another fan reacted.

Along with Werner, Chelsea are expected to have Christian Pulisic available for selection, after the winger recovered quicker than expected from a hamstring injury.
