Chelsea reportedly agreed personal terms with Sevilla defender Jules Kounde during the summer transfer window but failed to reach an agreement with the Spanish side.
The Blues reportedly submitted an offer of €50million for 22 year old defender but Sevilla wanted more.
Julen Lopetegui, the Sevilla manager, has finally explained why Kounde’s Chelsea transfer fell through.
“Kounde did not join Chelsea because our Sevilla board felt it was the appropriate decision based on the worth of the offers. For me, it’s a great sign – he’ll produce at a high level again,” Sevilla head coach Julen Lopetegui told Diario de Sevilla, according to Fabrizio Romano.
