Tuchel slams FIFA for putting Chelsea in difficult situation

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has slammed FIFA for putting the Blues in a ‘impossible’ scenario.

On Saturday, Thomas Tuchel’s side defeated Southampton 3-1, but they now face an issue.

Following Thiago Silva’s call-up to the Brazil squad, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has slammed FIFA, claiming the Blues have been put in a “impossible” situation.

Silva, 37, will join up with Brazil for the upcoming international fixtures, which means he will be unavailable to face Brentford when he returns.

Silva will play in games against Venezuela, Colombia, and Uruguay, the last of which is set to begin at 1.30 a.m. GMT on Friday morning, the day before Chelsea’s match at Brentford.

“He will go and then he will play for Brazil and then he will come back on the matchday versus Brentford,” Tuchel stated when questioned about Chelsea’s tricky predicament.

“This is international breaks’ life, this is international breaks’ scenario in 2021.”

“What can I do, like it or not?” Is this a viable option for our club? No. We can’t stop him, though.

“It’s impossible if they call him; he’ll have to leave.” He will be suspended from FIFA if he does not comply.

“We don’t have a choice; it’s something we have to live with.”

Silva was one of numerous players who chose not to participate in the last round of international fixtures, which might have resulted in a suspension, but the Brazil Federation decided not to pursue any action through FIFA.

However, quarantine restrictions for players returning to the UK from nations on the ‘red list’ have been lifted, allowing vaccinated players to train and play matches.

Meanwhile, Tuchel’s team won 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, putting them back on track in the Premier League.

Trevor Chalobah scored the opener for the Saints, but James Ward-Prowse equalized from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute.

Six minutes from time, Timo Werner put the Blues back in ahead, before Ben Chilwell sealed the victory five minutes later.

Tuchel said after the game that the Blues had earned their victory, but that they had to work hard for it.

“It was earned,” Tuchel remarked, “but it took a long time to get it.”

“I like the game; it was exciting and had two opposing sides. “Brinkwire Summary News” had a lot of enthusiasm, which I loved.
