UK begins investigation into killings of farmers in Benue

The United Kingdom has begun investigation into the killings of farmers by suspected herdsmen in Benue State and other parts of the country. Also to be investigated are the murder of two catholic priests and 17 worshipers in the state.

This follows the resolution by the UK parliament mandating the Prime Minister to investigate the alleged killing and persecution of Christians
in the state.

The British High Commissioner to Nigeria disclosed this during a meeting with Governor Samuel Ortom in Makurdi, Benue State capital.

Catriona Laing said the meeting is part of her fact-finding mission to areas affected by the farmers/herders conflict in the state
