Former governor of Anambra state, Mr. Peter Obi has pulled out of 2023 presidential race under the number one opposition party of the country, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
It is a big news as his resignation is coming barely 72 hours before the party’s National Convention. It’s such a big statement for the followers of politics in Nigeria.
Obi was one of the leading contender to get the presidential ticket to run for the President of Nigeria on the platform of the PDP.
Obi announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the party.
In the letter sighted by News Direct, Obi gave reasons for his withdrawal from the presidential race with him not being pleased with some recent developments in the party.
The power play inside the PDP has become tensed and the former governor could not cope with that.
Leaving the Peoples Democratic Party is what we know for now, it is not clear whether he will be moving to another party to achieve his goal or he will forget about the race altogether.
