Wike in trouble with FG, over arrest of Caverton Helicopters’ pilots

The executive Governor of  Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has landed in fresh trouble with the Federal Government of Nigeria over the arrest of two Caverton Helicopters’ pilots and the passengers for disobeying the lockdown order of the State..

Wike had ordered the total lockdown of the State due to the spread of coronavirus.

He however led some police and other military officers to arrest two pilots of Caverton Helicopters.

The identity of the two pilots are Samuel Ugorji and Samuel Buhari and were remanded at the Port Harcourt Custodial Centre on Tuesday.

PM News reports that the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, on Wednesday, claimed that the Federal Government duly granted Caverton Helicopters the right to fly into Rivers.

“The Federal Government allowed the flight, we have the authority to approve such flight, we will do everything lawful to get the pilots back,” he said.

Rivers State Police Commissioner and the Commander of the Air Force Base in Port Harcourt will also face the fire for effecting the arrest.
