Newly Arsenal signed player, Willian has finally revealed the player who made him to leave Chelsea for Arsenal and also revealed that he is happy he did.
Willian said David Luiz urged him to join the Gunners following his departure from Chelsea.
Willian ended his seven-year stay at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season and quickly secured a move across London, signing a three-year deal at Arsenal.
The Brazilian forward made more than 300 appearances for Chelsea and won two Premier League titles, the Europa League and FA Cup in west London.
Willian will hope to enjoy more success at the Emirates under Mikel Arteta, who has largely impressed since returning to Arsenal as manager in December.
The 32-year-old is delighted to be reunited with former Chelsea and Brazil team-mate Luiz and has revealed the defender urged him to sign for Arsenal.
‘He [David Luiz] is very happy,’ Willian told Arsenal Digital.
‘We played together in the national team, we played together at Chelsea, and now at Arsenal again.
‘I think we can do great things together, I hope so, but I’m very happy to be with him again.
‘He said, “Come to Arsenal, come to Arsenal, I want you to come!” So that was the conversation.
‘He is a very nice guy, a top player and I’m very excited to play with him again.
‘Of course [he helped in the past], many times. Many times when I had difficult times at Chelsea he was helping me a lot.
‘He is this kind of person that wants to help, especially young players without experience. He is the guy that helps everyone.’
